Meet The Most Covid-19 Vaccinated Man From Germany

SummaryThe number of shots this man from Germany was indeed eyebrow-raising, it was 217!. When researchers at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and the University Hospital Erlangen got to know about it, they saw this as an opportunity. This is when they decided to study him.

When most people were debating whether to get their first COVID-19 shot, one German man was way ahead, rolling up his sleeve - again and again. And again. 217 times, to be exact!

This is not because he was world's most dedicated public health advocate. Authorities suspected him of fraud, believing he got multiple jabs to sell fake vaccine cards. But as it turns out, this unintentional human experiment has given scientists something fascinating to study: What happens you take way more vaccines than recommended?

130 Shots In 9 Months

Back in 2022, when German authorities finally got a hold of the then 60-year-old Magdeburg resident getting vaccinated two days in a row at the same clinic, they went on to investigate. Upon further investigation, it was found that he had received at least 130 doses over a nine-month period. The man however claimed that he got 217 doses over 29 months, mostly from mRNA vaccines.

The number was indeed eyebrow-raising, yet the prosecutors dropped their fraud case. When researchers at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and the University Hospital Erlangen got to know about it, they saw this as an opportunity. This is when they decided to study him.

The findings on him is published in journal The Lancet Infectious Disease, titled Adaptive immune responses are larger and functionally preserved in a hypervaccinated individual.

Ultimate Immune System Stress Test

The man also agreed to be examined. Scientists then analyzed his blood, saliva, and medical history. His immune response was compared to people who received the standard three-dose regimen. Afterwards, the man even volunteered for two more vaccine doses during the study.

The findings were indeed shocking. Not only did he suffer no noticeable side effects from his own hypervaccination experiment, his immune system also was thriving. His antibody and T-cell levels were off the charts, much higher than those of the control group.

Something else was even more intriguing, he was the only subject with anti-spike antibodies in his saliva. In fact, he has never actually had the COVID-19. This was confirmed by over 2 dozens tests, which confirmed his virus-free streak.

Takeaway: Do Not Do This To Yourself

However, it does not mean that we all must start hoarding vaccines and aiming for such high doses. Experts have long known that vaccines work incredibly well in recommended doses and overdoing it is not necessary. While this man's system held up, there is still a theoretical risk that repeated vaccinations in short period could actually weaken the body's response.

The study's author Kilian Schober noted: "The observation that no noticeable side effects were triggered in spite of this extraordinary hypervaccination indicates that the drugs have a good degree of tolerability.” But tolerability doesn’t mean necessity.

How Many Covid-19 Jabs Should You Get?

The current advice remains the same: three doses. These doses are administered across a particular time period, along with booster shots.
